Young, gifted and beautiful, singing star Pixie Lott is breaking into movies – and then America. But she’d rather be at home with her folks.
This Christmas, Pixie Lott has only one wish – to be at home playing party games with her family.
One particular Lott favourite is a rather raucous version of Stars In Their Eyes.
“It’s a right laugh and I usually do Whitney and my grandad does a Frank Sinatra song or You’ll Never Walk Alone,” she says. “And actually, Grandad’s got quite a good, strong voice. I can feel a duet coming on…”
Presumably Pixie, blessed with that killer voice of hers, wins hands down? “No!” she giggles.
“My dad usually does a bit of Rod Stewart and he’s got a croaky voice. He puts on a Rod wig and everything and he usually wins. Last time, I came second.”
Coming second doesn’t happen very often to Ms Lott. Since bursting on to the UK music scene 18 months ago with her number one debut single, Mama Do, the striking singer has had no cause to look back. And with all that she’s accomplished, it’s hard to believe she’s yet to turn 20.
She already has a hit album and seven top 20 singles on her CV, not to mention her own fashion label (for hip British brand Lipsey).
And for those of us who failed to catch that extraordinary, soulful voice on the radio, there was the recent ITV special, One Night Stand with Pixie Lott.
There are various music awards in her bedroom back home, although Pixie admits that lately, the time she actually gets to spend in her home town of Brentwood, Essex, is limited.
She’s currently touring the UK and will jet back to the States in the New Year to promote the release of her album, Turn it up Louder.
